There are tens of thousands of foreigners living in Hungary. Unfortunately, Hungary is a country where the general level of foreign language knowledge is still fairly low, especially when it comes to more complicated subjects than the choice between original recipe and extra crispy. The picture is not improving if we add that learning Hungarian is for most people seems like an impossible task. A dance studio is many things: a place to let out some steam, a place to meet people, a place to do something very different from everyday life, a place to be in a different world, where words and business is not so important, while people and fun is more important. You can also meet yourself in the flesh: you will need to learn to let go, to relax, to dilute yourself in an environment where everything is about the now, and nothing is too important. Our dance studio is also a place where you can find (or create - you are a part of it!) a community where people have at least two things in common: they came here to dance and to socialize with people they can actually talk with. Recently we had dozens of people from various countries, who despite their lack of Hungarian skills, took their chances and joined our classes. There are even some who just come down to work on their laptops in our café in the evenings because of the buzz of the place. Many of the teachers at Hölgyválasz acquired or at least honed their dancing skills abroad, many of us keep serious international relationships with teachers and festival organizers in several countries around the world. As most dances implicitly require to move around comfortably in the culture of other countries, we really love to be in a multicultural environment. We'd like to become a hub of social life for expats, foreign students, people who came here to work from abroad for shorter or longer periods, with or without family. Organizing dance lessons is only the first step (literally). We are planning to have parties, balls other social events where language is not an obstacle and where everyone who commands a decent level of English will feel at home. if you would like to receive information on fresh events, classes, |
